After his mistakes vs Germany , Keeper Mark Schwarzer (37)  ended his poor World Cup with another mistake and poor show last night vs Serbia.

I had hope that after this poor show at the would cup that this would end in interest in this clown.

But no, reports in todays Mirror says that Arsenal have made an improved offer of £3.5m for Mark Schwarzer, The report claims that Schwarzer has been made aware of Arsenal’s interest and he has told manager Roy Hodgson he wants to leave Craven Cottage this summer. It’s believed that Hodgson is now resigned to losing his No.1 keeper and all that’s left is for the two clubs to agree a fee.

BAD NEWS!.. This is not the safe pair of hands that we need at Arsenal. See Below for last nights mistake…1:30

With very little to moan about or report on the blog, I today was poking around in our dusty archives and found this wonderful memory,

2-0 down away at Bolton, Diaby sent off,  and we showed real fight to come back to win 3-2.

Enjoy this classic, and visit our new look forum at www.arsenalaction.com/forum/

Having watched Raymond Domenech’s french side lose 2-0 tonight vs Mexico and drawing 0-0 vs Uruguay, I noticed that his style of football & tactics at times is just like our own manager in recent years.

At times tonight watching the french was just like watching Arsenal.

Loads of the ball, passing from side to side. But how many saves did the mexican keeper have to make in the game? How many saves did the Uruguay keeper make? How isolated was the lone striker? How many times did the cross come in with nobody in the box?….. Things we have all said about the Arsenal recently.

Both Domenech and Wenger are clueless when it comes to tactics.

Both play with only ONE striker and both blind to see that its not working and both stubborn to admit they made a mistake and change there style and play 4-4-2.

No doubt the in Arsene we trust massive will come out and tell me how plastic I am but everything I have said in this post is fact.

Tactically Domenech & Wenger are the SAME! and thats why the french have not won anything in years and thats why Arsenal have not won anything in years.

Tonight I watched the Germans v Australia World cup game and did my own little scouting report on a player we are linked with Mark Schwarzer.

All I can say is lets hope and pray that we dont sign this clown.

God knows why we are even looking at a 37 year old keeper who has never played at the top club or at the top level or in the champions league is beyond me?

But I wanted to be proved wrong tonight and wanted to see him have a good game.

It couldnt be any worst, to say that Rob Green and the Algerian keeper looked better would be harsh. Schwarzer got a “hand” to the first goal and for the 2nd it was pure Comedy. He came flapping for a cross that he was never going to get and got beat by a header into an open goal. Not the type of thing we would want to see after the sights of Almunia and Fabianski last season.

After that he was all over the place, Poor kicking, poor punching and just looked a disaster waiting to happen….In all Schwarzer let in only FOUR goals.

I hope Arsene watch tonights game and this made his mind up. PLEASE Arsene dont do this to us. DONT SIGN THIS CLOWN!

On the other hand the young german Mesut Ozil looks a fine player and a perfect replacement for Cesc, “IF” he was to leave

The guy was amazing, Pace and vison and had a hand in everything. Sweet left peg and would be a fantastic signing. No doubt after tonight all the big clubs will be looking at him.

Arsenal Chairman Peter Hill-Wood confirmed that the club are looking at the Fulham keeper Mark Schwarzer (37)

Hil-Wood told “The Star”
We have made an enquiry for him and they are not prepared to sell him so we have gone away.

We can only hope they will change their minds, but at the moment it doesn’t look like it.

Apparently our bid of around £3m was turned down by Fulham.

But is a 37 year old keeper the answer to our goalkeeping problems? And at £4m are we going to get much in return? How many more years has Schwarzer got at the top?.. Has he even played at the top before?

Personally I would rather us signed Rob Green (30)

I know that Wenger regards Wojciech Szczesny(20) as a future number 1, and that the signing of an experienced keeper to cover until he is ready could be the thinking in signing Schwarzer. But £4m for a 37 year old??

Ben Foster(27) has just signed for Birmingham City for the same price and is TEN YEARS YOUNGER!….And is Schwarzer the best we can do? Im sure there are better keeper then him out there?..(Loris/Akineev/Gordon)

There is no doubt that Wenger is looking at signing a keeper this summer… But who would you like to see?

This morning I see a host of sites reporting that we beat Chelsea in the race to sign a child (15 year old) Kyle Ebecilio from Feyenoord.

No doubt that most of you are happy about this and think this is a great signing for the future?

But lets just think about that for a sec…

Since wenger arrived at Arsenal he has signed players like this and said that the future would be great, but in the 13 plus years that Wenger has been at the club how many of the so called “Superkids” have gone on and made it at Arsenal?..Cesc, Clichy?

We were all told that Bentley would be the new Bergkamp and how Ryan Smith was going to be our Ryan Giggs etc…

Plus the likes of Quicny, Svard, Volz etc etc… The sad fact is that for ever Cesc Fabregas we sign as a kid there are 10 Vincent van den Berg at Arsenal, so i apologise for getting excited about the news of us signing more kids for the future.

Sometimes i question why do we waste so much time and money of signing kids when 90% of them never make it at Arsenal. No doubt they are some very talented players but its a myth that Wenger gives youth a chance. Look at the likes of Carlos Vela and Armand Traoré at Arsenal. both players have been sent out on loan and returned to the club last season. Both hardly never got a chance and were overlooked despite loads of injuries in there positions last season. Silvestre played ahead of Traore at Left back and Vela didnt even come close to getting a chance up front, even after the likes of RVP,Nic and Eduardo were all missing.

Its seems to me that if a young player comes to Arsenal they are hailed as the next big thing and the new Henry or Bergkamp when in fact they are just talented kids who will more or likely end up like Arturo Lupoli or Bischoff in some lower league team.

Wenger has a massive rep for developing young talent as being his main skill as a coach?

Fran, Upson, Bentley, Sidwell, Quincy, Volz, Senderos, Skulason, Simek, Papadopulos, Justin Hoyte, Muamba, Stokes, Larsson, Connolly, Garry, Pennant, Juan, Jerome Thomas, Rohan Ricketts, Paulinho, Carlin Itonga & Rui Fonte

All hailed by Wenger in the past as being the future of this club and all sold before even getting a sniff, Now we have the likes of Jay Simpson, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Håvard Nordtveit, Nacer Barazite,Francis Coquelin,Henri Lansbury, Pedro Botelho and many more… The sad fact is that most of the players named above will not make it at Arsenal and will end up like Graham Barrett.

My point is, Just because we sign a “SUPER” kid, don’t expect them to go on and make it at Arsenal. I would like Arsenal to take time out of signing players for the future and start thinking about the present

Arsenal’s Carlos Vela and Alberto Medina exposed a slow, ragged Italy defense in Mexico’s 2-1 victory over the defending World Cup champions Thursday, giving the Mexicans a major boost heading to the tournament.

Vela took a high pass from Giovani Dos Santos in the center and without any serious challenge lined up a drive from 12 yards that gave goalkeeper Gianluigi Buffon no chance in the 16th minute.

Ten minutes from the final whistler, substitute Medina beat Italy’s offside trap, and from a tight right angle beat Buffon.

Italy pulled one back in the 89th minute when defender Leonardo Bonucci scored from close range after Salvatore Bocchetti hit the goalpost.

Joe Cole ‘to join Arsenal on free transfer after signing three-year deal’

Joe Cole could be on the verge of making a shock move from Chelsea to Arsenal on a free transfer after rumours emerged today he has signed a three-year contract at the Emirates Stadium.

According to reports, Cole’s representatives met up with Arsenal officials yesterday to thrash out the terms of the deal while the midfield playmaker was being called up to England’s World Cup squad by Fabio Capello.

Barring any complications in the process the transfer is expected to be finalised next week, with a view to announcing the move before the tournament in South Africa begins in ten days’ time.

The rumours follow hot on the heels of comments by Tottenham manager Harry Redknapp earlier today, when he admitted he believes Cole has agreed in principle to a move to another Premier League.

‘It looks to me that someone’s going to make a great free transfer,’ Redknapp is quoted as saying.

‘I genuinely don’t know who that is, but I don’t think it’s going to be Tottenham.

‘I’ve got a feeling – and I may be wrong – that he’s already agreed a deal with someone.

‘I’m a big fan of Joe’s, and I would be interested if he didn’t stay at Chelsea, but the feedback we’ve had is that he might well have already done something.’

If true, the news would be a huge boost for Arsenal fans still reeling from the revelation that captain Cesc Fabregas could be leaving the club to join boyhood team Barcelona this summer.

Cole’s signing also fits in with the Arsene Wenger transfer philosophy in that the England international would represent a shrewd bit of business.

The 28-year-old is out of contract at Chelsea and would be available on a free transfer.

And while his wage demands may have presented a stumbling block – given the Blues are reluctant to meet his expectations – Wenger is said to be more willing to offer larger contracts to players in a bid to build a title-winning team.

Former West Ham United star Cole is also believed to be keen to stay in London, as partner Carly Zucker has recently given birth to a son and is reluctant to relocate.

After Barcelona  made a formal offer for Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas, Arsenal.com confirmed tha the club has rejected a bid from Barca for Cesc Fabregas..

“Arsenal captain Cesc Fabregas is under contract with the Club until the summer of 2015.  He is a highly valued member of the team and part of our future plans.

“We have followed recent speculation linking Cesc with a move away from the Club but as there has never been any official approach for him, only two informal exchanges, in which we made it abundantly clear that we have no interest in transferring Cesc, we have refrained from publicly passing comment. However, yesterday evening we received an offer from Barcelona for Cesc and in response, we immediately and resolutely told them once again that we have no intention of selling our captain.

“To be clear, we will not make any kind of counterproposal or enter into any discussion. Barcelona have publicly stated that they will respect our position and we expect that they will keep their word.”
