Poor tactics, stubborn, lack of spending.. In Arsene we trust?

I didn’t want to post straight after the game as some of you always say that my posts are just a knee jerk reaction.

But now i have had time to think about the game I have to say that the Arsenal fans who STILL have faith in wenger are ether to stupid to see the light or just as stubborn as Wenger.

Poor tactics - this 4-5-1 is clearly not working vs the better teams. If you are going to play with only one striker, he has got to be strong and able to holed the ball up and link the play. And also able to compete with the physical side of the game.

Who has Wenger been using ( Eduardo and Arshavin ) 2 of the smallest, weakest players you can find. And TBH both players have been made to look shit. You cant blame the players. Blame the manager for picking this crap.

Wenger didn’t sign a striker to play this role so why not go back 2 a 4-4-2?

Lack of signings - Wenger can bang on about how he nearly signed a player on deadline day and how he almost signed David Villa all he wants. The sad fact is that he had ALL last summer to address this problems. He had the money from the sales of Adebayor and Toure, ask 90% of fans or people who know something about the game if Arsenal were short of a few players to win the league and they would all say the same things. Need a keeper, A ball winner in midfield and a striker. We all knew that before the start of the season. Come the Jan transfer window were are in a fantastic position to fight for the title as both the chavs and Man utd have dropped points. We are top after a win vs Bolton but like me alot of fans still wanted Wenger to strengthen the team with maybe 2 signings to really give us a boost to kick on and win the league. The signings didn’t come and now 3 games on we are in danger of dropping out of the top 3 into 4th.

Playing players in their wrong position – How many times have we seen Eduardo and Nic on the wings, or Arshavin as a lone striker? its the square pegs in round holes debate again.

2 much faith in poor players - We all knew that Almunia was not good enough to be our long term number one keeper. Sometimes a keeper wins you a game by making match winning saves, Just like Cech did this weekend. Its seems like everytime Almunia has a shot on target it a goal. When was the last time he make a decent save of note? Denilson was never going to be good enough to cover for Song. We all knew that we needed one more DM player at the start of the season….

How many more things do you want?

I said before the Villa, Man Utd, Chavs and Liverpool games that to win the title we needed to take 9 pts from 12 pts, at the mo its 1pt from 9.. Just shows that we are not good enough to win the league. And if we lose to Liverpool? Then what?  From 1st to 4th in 4 games

People can blame players like Almunia and Denilson all they want…the only person to blame is Wenger.

He is living off the glory days (before 2005) this needs to change. The in arsene we trust banner must now come down.

Thomas Sorensen was apparently the player that Wenger failed to sign on deadline day

When wenger said we came VERY,VERY CLOSE to signing a player before the transfer window, it got people thinking to who it was? Was it a striker?…. Well according to the Telegraph it was goal keeper Thomas Sorensen. Full report ( HERE )

It is reported that Wenger has lost confidence in Manuel Almunia and is now on the hunt for a new number one but failed to sign Thomas Sorensen from Stoke City on deadline day.

For me Im happy that Wenger has finaly seen that Almunia is not good enought to be number one, but not sure about Sorensen who is also known for the odd mistake.

Maybe Wenger will go back for him in the summer?….

You never realize how good you had it, until it’s gone

My old man use to say to me, Enjoy the good times and make the most of them, because you might never see them again..

Great advice

Under Wenger we have seen some amazing football, probably the best i have seen in my lifetime.

So many memories and great goals, world class players and amazing moments of skill.

Looking back now at the rein under Wenger, i sometimes forget just how good we were. Wenger made us one of the greatest footballing teams of all time. Pires, Bergkamp, Henry, Vieira… And many more, we destroyed teams with our attacking one touch passing game and scored goals we could only dream about.

We were truly awesome and there is one man and one man only to thank for that, Arsene Wenger.

The great man has come under immense criticism lately from a large section of fans, and even on our  forum for the first time members are now starting to question his judgement, with his lack of spending and doubts over his tactical skills playing with only one striker.

Please don’t get me wrong, I’m not in the “in Arsene we trust brigade” and over the last few weeks I have myself become frustrated by Wenger and some of the decisions he has made. I could name you a list of things I’m currently not happy with, from Almunia to Denilson to not signing a target man. But I’m old enough to know that in life you have to take the ruff with the smooth, and to enjoy the sweet tastes of success, you need to know how the rotten taste of defeat to know the true meaning of winning.

Yes I am frustrated and yes I do think that Wenger has made alot of mistakes recently, But he is still the right man for the job and the only man who can take us back to the glory days. People say to me that “we have not won anything since 2005″ and that Wenger has sold key players without replacements and seems only concerned with making an end of season profit for the board.

Remember this, Football has changed since 2005 and in fact the world has changed. Everybody is feeling the money pinch, The current economical climate means that most of us in life are less likely to spend money on luxury items, eating out less, new car etc. Wenger has a budget to spend and he is looking after the clubs long-term best interest.

I know that some of you want titles and want it now, but our time will come again. Our future is very bright and lets not turn on our own and give our players and manager 100% support

Lets enjoy life under Wenger, like i said you never realize how good you had it, until its gone,

Im sure some of us are going to be saying this when Arsene leaves.

[Video] Lets remember the good old days

Arsenal are missing David Dein more then Henry,Bergkamp and Vieira

By Anfield 89

After the return of Sol Campbell  to Arsenal , I was asked on the forum, Which former Gooner would you want back at Arsenal? Flamini? Sidwell, Upson, Bergkamp, Henry, Vieira???

The only person I would bring back to Arsenal is David Dein.

David Dein was a class act and he was the man who forced the rest of the board to gamble of Arsene Wenger who was unknown outside of france and japan.

Remember the headlines “Arsene Who ” on the back pages when Wenger took over at Arsenal?

Dein overlooked the transfers of players and advised Wenger on contracts of players and did all the paperwork and ran the day to day goings on at the club and left Wenger to deal with coaching, For me Dein was the best in the game.

The reason dein walked away from Arsenal was due to the fact he felt the club needed outside investment to be able to compete with the other top clubs,Dein was removed from the Arsenal board for bringing in Stan kroeneke, who has since been courted by the board and greeted with open arms after Peter Hill-Wood first said “We didn’t want his type at Arsenal” I find it very odd that Dein wanted Kroenke in the rest of the board didn’t, and now Kroenke is the biggest shareholder at Arsenal.

The board changed there minds about kroenke only after Usmanov came to the table, So in everything Dein has been proved RIGHT!

Dein felt we needed to find extra spending power to compete with Chelase , Man Utd and now Man City.

It is hard to say he isn’t being proven right.

Just look at what happened since Dein walked, Players leaving on free transfers like Flamini, Missing out on countless transfers, won nothing since 2005. Wenger is now more of a accountant then a football manager.

And what has Ivan Gazidis done? apart from giving the media a few interviews and signing injury prone Rosicky and Eduardo on new contract extensions.

David Dein was Mr Arsenal, And Wenger is missing his right hand man and its showing.

This summer Arsenal FC need to do everything they can to bring Mr Dein back to Arsenal and then we will see the glory days return.

I’m not a plastic, you are!

Well… Maybe you’re not.

But I can tell you one thing neither I, nor any of the other writers on this blog are plastics. I can admit that Sinbad, maybe, at times gets a little over emotional and not rational enough.

Having said that, we also give credit where credit is due. Maybe we don’t post something on here after EVERY victory but we are under no obligations to.

But for people to label him a bad fan and a plastic because he’s passionate and doesn’t like the way that Arsene is running the club is a disgrace. Telling people what to do takes away their freedom to have an opinion and that does not only make you a bad fan but a bad person.

He has supported Arsenal f or years, through good and bad, how is he a plastic? I have supported Arsenal since I was 6 years old, am I plastic? I don’t like the way that Arsene is taking the club that I have contributed towards by buying their merchandise and Premier League TV programmes as well as going to matches on the, admittedly few, occasions that it has been possible.

Football fans love their clubs and will show their support at all times. Most of the times, they do not expect to get anything back. But when we have a manager who lies to us and has taken us from unbeatable to a 5 year barren streak, there comes a point where enough is enough. People make it seem that 5 years without a trophy is nothing. The olden Arsenal teams went 20 years without winning a trophy I hear… So? You say it like it was a good thing. How many of those managers lasted 6 years?

We won the double with Bertie Mee in ‘71. He left us in ‘76. Don Howe was given three years to win something with us, he didn’t and was sacked. Arsenal went through two managers in between a 8 year barren streak. Wenger has gone through more than half of that and is not even under the slightest pressure from the board. We won the league cup with Graham and that was a catalyst which resulted in us winning the league. But Wenger doesn’t care about the league cup because he doesn’t care about the fans. Admit it, most of you would love a trip to Wembley and to be able to win a trophy. This lot have won nothing. Spurs have been to Wembley more times than us – recently – whilst in the last few years Portsmouth have had more prestige than us. Unlike others,  I refuse to let the man have his way with my club. But because of this, I am a bad fan.

Fans have rights and we have a right to excersise them. Because we don’t like Wenger, we are “Anti-Arsenal” and are not “good supporters”. WHY THE F##K IS THAT? I have never, in my life, claimed to support Arsene Wenger. I am a staunch Arsenal supporter who has gotten a whif of success, enjoys it and does not want to let it go. Support the Chav say you? Why? That would make me a glory supporter. Striving for success makes me human. Apparently this makes me a “plastic”,  ironically enough it’s likely that it is plastic supporters from the Wenger era who are saying this to me. Show me a footballing rule book that says we should support the manager to support the club? Even though we disagree with the direction he has taken us? Who made that rule up?

On a lighter note, I do believe that we at Arsenal have some of the best supporters in the world. But I urge you, look towards the betterment of the club. Wenger has helped lay the model but take nothing away from the directors who implemented it. Don’t let Wenger fool you into thinking we have no money. He himself was recently boasting about having 30 million to spend.

Arsenal were a massive club before Wenger & will be after Wenger!

Taken from this thread Re: SIGN PETITION TO HAVE ARSENE WENGER SACKED!

Ive been a gooner all my life and been watching the Arsenal for over 40 years. I didnt pick the team i had to support it was past down to me from my father who was a die hard fan and we use to go and stand in the old clock end together.

During that time we have had some good times and bad, as a kid it was mostly bad as we were pretty poor  in the early 80s and finished most seasons in 7th and sometimes even worst. But we have always had a style and Arsenal have always been a big club when people talk about football in England.

Then we won the league in 1989 and my life changed. For the first time i was able to say ” we are champions ” Players like Rocastle, Merson, Davis, Smith, Adams, Bould, Dixon and more made me the happiest gooner alive. The day we won the title i cried with joy as i didnt think i would see the day in my life time. My old man use to tell me about the double team in 1971 and his face use to light up when he spoke about Charlie George’s goal that won the fa cup.

Why am i telling you all this?

Well some fans only know life under Wenger and fear that the club will crumble if he was to leave. they think that Wenger made this club with his own hands and without him everything would turn into dust.

Let me make a few things very clear. Wenger is/was a great manager and his style of football is a joy to watch and maybe the best I have seen. But he is not Arsenal FC

As many of you have said, the lack of spending, the negative 1 striker, the faith shown in poor players like Almunia is poor judgement from Wenger.

Many of you keep saying that players will leave if wenger was to go? Well let them. Their loyalty should be with the club (Arsenal FC) and not Wenger.

Since the FA Cup win in 2005 Wenger has slowly ripped the heart out of the great 49ners and replaced great players with some talented and some terrible players.

For me its time for a new chapter for Arsenal.

Move Wenger upstairs and give him a job in the boardroom but we need a new manager with a different vision

Time for Arsenal to get back to 4-4-2

Arsenal have always played 4-4-2. So why did Wenger change it this season?

Wenger use to always play 4-5-1 in champions league games and in the big games to try and win the game in midfield, But it never worked.

Our great teams under Wenger were 4-4-2

————————————————-Seaman
—Dixon——————-Adams——————————-Campbell————-Cole
—Parlour——————-Vieira——————————–Petit—————–Overmars
——————————Bergkamp—————————Anelka

Then it was

—————————————————— Jens
–Lauren—————————Toure————————-Campbell————Clichy/Cole
–Ljungberg/Wiltord—————–Gilberto——————–Vieira——————Pires
————————————-Bergkamp/Kanu—————Henry

Everybody knew their job

Now we have Eduardo on the wing 1, Arshavin the next, Walcott up front then on the wing, Nic on the wing???? (homer) its a shambles

If Wenger played 4-4-2 with the players we currently have fit our team would look something like this

—————————————————- Almunia
-Sagna—————————Gallas————————–Vermaelen—————-Clichy
-Walcott————————-Cesc—————————–Song———————Nasri
———————————–Nic——————————-Arshavin

As you can see, 2 up front and big man and little man partnership. Arshavin playing the Bergkamp/Kanu role just off the striker and 2 wingers.

Time for Arsenal to return to 4-4-2

SIGN PETITION TO HAVE ARSENE WENGER SACKED!

As long as Arsene and the board manage to end the season at 4th place they consider that’s sufficient and will not make any improvement to the squad.

ALL this to maximize in profits and forget the club belongs to the fans!

How many more season should we wait on? Wenger has lied to the fans for years now, His stubborn ways and lack of transfer signing are killing this club.

We never asked him to sign like mad and spend big like City , but at least bring in strength to the weak areas which he failed to do so all these years! We can all see that we need new players to push us on, And maybe  try and win things again.  But yet he keeps saying that the injuryed players will be like new signings?

Well thats not going to cut it anymore. How can he stick with Almunia, Denilson and co and not bring in a striker when its clear to the world thats what we need?

He has money to spend and his tight ways are turning the fans away, How many empty seats are you now seeing at Arsenal? The fans need to know that the money we spend is going back into the club.
All we get from Wenger is young talent and now players over 35 on a free? He sells our best players and that money is never invested back into the team. Like the money from Adebayor and Toure.

We didnt hire a manager to look into the profit of the club. That’s where everything WENT WRONG

Arsenal does’nt belongs to him.I cant see there being any changes and there will never be one as long he continues. His time is up!

Just sign the petition at least, let them know we are unhappy.Very unhappy
